It's that time again: time to judge fictional characters

Friends,

I think it only appropriate, given my pre-season ranking of the characters on Parenthood, to do a post-season ranking.

As the rules were last time, I'm not grading minors, but please note there are some newbies on the list.

Ready? Here we go:

     LOVE:

Hank, Sarah, Zeek, Camille, Amber, Ryan, Kristina

     Love:

Adam (this is a huge jump for him)

     Like quite a bit:

Crosby, Mark, Drew (slid on the ranking)

     Tolerable/Annoying/I'm having issues with them:

Jasmine, Amy, Joel, Julia, Hattie

Your turn: weigh in!

  1. LOVE: Hank, Adam, Crosby, Zeek
    Love: Drew, Kristina, Camille, Hattie
Tolerable: Jasmine, Sydney, Mark, Joel, Amy
    Annoying: Julia, Sarah, Ryan

I love the show, but I think they tried to cram too much into this season, and it ended in a rushed, stilted fashion. For instance, how is Kristina already finished with chemo? And Ryan and Amber are all of the sudden in love after like three episodes?

Jasmine's mom moved in with Jasmine and Crosby for a whole second before moving in with her son. Jasmine mentioned wanting another baby only a couple episodes before they wrote in her pregnancy. In one episode, Sydney went from hating Victor to embracing him full-on. The whole Amy abortion thing should have spanned more than one episode, too. And did they show ever mention Drew's applying to Berkeley? And why did he and Amy act like they were saying goodbye when they have the rest of the semester in high school and summer together?

I would have liked to have seen more character development and fewer additional big-deal story lines.

  2. Oops, and Max falls between the "love" and "tolerable" categories.

  3. I like Mark, but hate those two together. I am Team Hank all the way. I restate my comment, on your pre-season thread, that Sarah needs therapy and Al Anon. She should be in NO relationship until she gets herself together Thus ends the sermon.

    1. I'm so glad you're Team Hank.

I saw Ray Romano while hiking this spring and was controlled enough not to yell, "Marry me, Hank!!"
